According to Fashionista, Evisu took a nosedive into mediocre until it was resuscitated by Scott Morrison, co-founder of the high successfully Paper, Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn labels. After a bit of restructuring, Morrison enlisted designers from Rag & Bone and Earnest Sewn on board for the men’s collections and Catherine Holstein for womens.
Holsteins premier for Evisu screams as an accessible blend of Chloe's European chic-meets-cool girl Marant-meets-the affordability Zara (at least I hope). The collection encompasses a demure color palette, comfortable cotton/jersey fabrics, and seems to champion a quiet femininity (my favorite).
Wait, did I just describe the collection or my own personal style aspirations? Haha whoops?

If she weren't labeled as a designer, you'd think her to be a magazine or PR rep, no?
Above, Holstein explains the inspiration behind her women's apparel collections. Many of her references mirror many of my own personal favorite style icons. Indeed, the Brooklyn-based designer is definitely one of my NYFW favorites. What I've come to like most about her is that you can totally tell that she's the type of designer that would only make a style of clothing that she herself would wear. Good thing, because I really do admire her fashion aesthetic. Even better, this is the same designer that - as soon as the recession bubble burst - quietly announced that she would lower the price of her garments to help make designer quality garments more affordable, the result of which can be viewed here.

What do you think?
Not sure I'm such a fan!
Although, I also said I wouldnt do puff sleeve shoulders.. and that didnt work out either.
I love them, they can make an otherwise boring outfit a little more interesting. My thing is that you have to be able to pull them off in a 'right now' kind of way, without looking all 'american apparel'. Know whaddamean?
